It's the story of Maria told from the point of view of her oldest daughter. Maria, a real person from turn of the century Finland, is a mother of 7 and a wife who suffers the abuses of her womanizing/alcoholic husband. Her saving grace and road to liberating her creative spirit is the Contessa camera she won in a lottery. She eventually falls in love with her camera and photography and the story of this family's life, the community and the politics of the time is woven around her evocative images. I watched it twice in one week!! Let us know what you think!!
